Privacy & cookies

If you accept, we load Google Analytics, which sets cookies (_ga, _ga_*, kept up to 2 years) and processes your IP address, device and browser details, and the pages you view. We use it to count visits and to see how many people request a crossing plan with an AI weather note or start a crossing. Google acts as our processor and may process data outside the UK under its standard contractual safeguards. IP addresses are anonymised.

Legal basis: your consent (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) and PECR). If you reject, no analytics script loads and no analytics cookies are set. You can change your mind at any time: Cookie settings.

• Briefing limit — the date and how many AI briefings this browser has used today, so we can cap it at 3 a day. It's a counter in your browser's storage, not an ID; we don't track you by IP or device fingerprint. Clearing your browser data resets it.
• Saved crossing — your start time on the Tracker, so a refresh doesn't lose it.
• Settings — your cookie choice, the Met Office comparison toggle and any tide times you enter manually.

"Show where I am" uses your phone's GPS only to draw your dot on your own screen. Your location is not sent to us or stored, and it stops when you close the page.

AI weather note — when you request one, your planned time and hourly forecast data are sent through our server to the Lovable AI Gateway to identify a weather concern. Crossing status and tide times are calculated separately and never set by AI. No name, GPS location or visitor identifier is included; this app does not store the request. Like any website, our hosting provider briefly processes your IP address to deliver pages and protect against abuse.
